For my podcast, the instructions were to create a 1 minute podcast. Since you can't really teach the software in one minute I decided to break it down into 5 parts and record module 2. The five parts were:
Part 1 – Installation and introduction to user interface
Part 2 – Importing Videos and Images
Part 3 – Splitting Clips, Reordering Videos and Removing Videos
Part 4 – Transitions and Effects
Part 5 – Exporting and Uploading your Videos

Welcome to Technology CONEction podcast. Today we will discuss importing video into Movie Maker. Movie Maker is free software that is available with Windows XP or Windows 7 operating system or can be downloaded from the Microsoft website. Let’s begin…Open Movie Maker and create a New Project. The first step in editing a video is to bring your raw video footage into Movie Maker. Raw video footage is simply video that you have not edited yet. There are many ways to do this. The left side of the screen contains a monitor for viewing your video the right side is for importing videos. There is also a control panel at the top of the screen that contains menus for editing. If you want to use the control panel to import your videos click the home tab and then click the button labeled add videos and photos. This will open a dialog box for you to navigate to where your video or image files are located. The easier way is to click in the right half of the screen and the same dialog box will appear. You can also open Windows Explorer, navigate to your videos or images and drag and drop them into the right side panel. Once the videos are added you can arrange them in the order you would like them to play and edit them. We will discuss how to edit video in our next podcast. The actual recording ended up being 1:30, but I was able to record it correctly on the first try! :)

This week's assignment was to review free video editing software and to create a podcast tutorial of the software. I chose Movie Maker since I had never used it before and my students ask several questions about it since they use it for other courses.
